"Nice Cream" Time!

by Melissa
These hot summer months leave us looking for some cool snacks.  Ice cream is a go to for many of us.  While ice cream every now and then is a fun treat, having ice cream daily can turn into a bad habit.  Instead, here are some delicious alternatives that you can indulge in more often and save on unnecessary processed sugar and saturated fats.  Try out these fun "nice cream" ideas for a nicer lighter option on your hot summer days!

Banana Nice Cream

Ingredients
  • 1 banana
  • 2 tablespoons water
Directions
Peel and chop the banana ahead of time and freeze.  Once the banana is frozen, blend with water until you have an ice cream like consistency.  Add more water if you want it more like soft serve.

Watermelon Sorbet

Ingredients
  • 1 watermelon peeled and cubed
Directions
Place frozen cubes of watermelon in a blender and blend until it's a smooth puree. Once smooth, place in a pan and then freeze. Scoop and enjoy when you are ready! Yum!

Frozen Banana Bites

Ingredients
  • 1 Banana
  • Peanut Butter
  • Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips
Directions
Slice banana, spread some peanut butter on the flat surface of one banana piece and sandwich another on top.  Continue with this until you have used up all banana slices.  Place in freezer 15 minutes.  While banana slices freeze, microwave chocolate chips until melted.  Next, dip frozen banana slices in chocolate then place on parchment paper.  Freeze banana slices again until chocolate is hardened.
