Well, I would say it’s officially winter now in Wisconsin! Love it or hate it (I’m in this camp), it’s here for a few months so let’s settle in. A typical comment I hear this time of year is that it’s difficult to keep up a walking or running routine because it’s so slippery/dark/cold outside and I agree - the season does make it more challenging to keep up some outdoor exercise. So, my next question for everyone is what can you do indoors for exercise?
If you have a computer and the internet, YouTube’s BeFit channel is a great resource for free exercise videos! It really has everything- yoga, kickboxing, interval training- you can try it all for a great cost ($0).
Bodyweight exercises like push-ups, planks, lunges, squats, triceps dips mixed with running up and down your stairs for 20 minutes could give you a great workout when the weather outside is frightful.
If you are willing to spend a little money but want to avoid a typical gym workout, see the options we have in Eau Claire for group exercise classes!
And I’m sure there are those of you who just love exercising outdoors this time of year, whether it’s cross country skiing or snowshoeing there are lots of options for you around this area as well!
So there you have it, you have options to keep you active and thriving all season long. Enjoy!
