Got Apples?

by Kayla

The season of fall in Wisconsin is filled with so many flavors. In our area, we certainly aren’t lacking when it comes to access to apple orchards. It seems like visiting an apple orchard is something that has to be done every fall, at least with our family anyway. I love finding new ways to add apples to the meals that I prepare, but I want to share one trusty (and easy) standby recipe that I always tend to have prepared in the fall; homemade applesauce! Just follow these steps, it’s seriously so easy!

  • Quarter 6 medium sized apples.
  • Put them in a crockpot and add a half of a cup of water and ½ teaspoon of ground cinnamon.
  • Cook on high for 4-5 hours or low for 7-8 hours, while occasionally mashing the apples while they are cooking.

4.       Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator. Eat as is or use it for delicious apple based recipes!
