Easy to Pack - Healthy Foods on the Go

by The Cooperative
Staying healthy and well, even during our busiest times in life, is easier when we plan and are prepared. Whether you are traveling, running out of work to get to your child’s after-school sporting event, or just having a busy day, it’s essential to keep healthy and nutritious foods with you so you can stay on top of your nutrition.

Here are a few healthy foods on the go that are easy to pack:

  • Apples, bananas, oranges

    • Fresh fruit is always great to have on hand. Fruits like apples, bananas, and oranges are easy to pack and don’t have to be sliced or prepared ahead of time. They basically come in their own wrapper! Fruit is loaded with essential nutrients that our bodies need to stay healthy.

  • Dried Fruits

    • They are easy to pack and grab quickly between meetings and last for quite a while before going bad.

  • Bottled water or unsweetened drinks

    • Hydrate feels great! The more we stay hydrated, the less likely we will grab an unhealthy snack. Packing water and other unsweetened beverages will also help you not consume as much added sugar. Pack some tea bags if you are looking for a little extra flavor. They are light and easy to condense. You can usually find hot water at most gas stations and hotels for a quick way to add some unsweetened flavor to your day on the go.

  • Canned chicken or tuna

    • Keeping canned chicken or tuna on hand are great ways to make sure.  You have access to a low-fat source of protein when you are in a pinch. Multiple flavor options and seasonings are available to appeal to different taste preferences. All in all, they are great for snacks or meals on the go.

Packaging healthy food with you when you are on the go has numerous benefits. It’s easier to ensure that you get the nutrients your bodies need; it can also help you limit the things your body doesn’t need, like added sugar or saturated fat. You can also save more money when avoiding fast-food restaurants or convenience stores.
