And the Twinkies, and Ho Ho’s… When I first heard of the company going bankrupt, I was excited that these nutritiously corrupt items would no longer be on shelves or in kid’s lunches! But then I heard about the 18,000 people that would be out of jobs. 18,000 people is A LOT of people - it’s enough to fill almost half of Miller Park!

Let’s be real, it’s not like the loss of these Hostess brand items is going to solve the obesity problem in this country – there are so many nutritionally poor choices out there that the die-hard Hostess fans will just choose something else. But the 18,000 people out of jobs might not find new jobs so easily.
Politics aside, here is the nutritional information from CalorieKing.com about the above mentioned products that will be no more:

However, for those of you mourning your loss of these tasty treats, there may reason to rejoice. The Huffington Post recently stated that Hostess has received interest from many other corporations. Hopefully this will save some of those jobs and the nostalgic treats we love so much, but remember moderation is key!
And who can forget the nutrition professor who went on the Twinkie Diet to show that it’s not what one ate, it’s how many calories one consumed that determined weight loss. It’s an interesting read if you have time. Just keep in mind it’s not a study – it's one man doing one “classroom stunt” (don’t try this at home)!
Does the potential loss of Hostess affect you? What are you going to miss the most?
