Cure for a Hot Summer Day

by Megan

We’re in the dog days of summer now and I’ve got some low cal beverage recipes perfect for sitting out on the deck and watching as your spouse mows the lawn…or for after you mow the lawn yourself, whichever scenario you prefer. Let’s start with my current favorite - the Arnold Palmer. I’m going to admit I had no idea who Arnold Palmer was and why he had a (drink named after him but I looked into it. Mr. Palmer was apparently one of the greatest professional golfers, which explains why I didn’t know of him - I don’t play or follow golf, but I will give mad respect to the fantastic beverage he made popular. The recipe is very simple; it’s half sweet tea (I just use black tea), and half lemonade. I steep a few tea bags in hot water, let that cool down in the fridge overnight and then add half a pitcher of lemonade to it in the morning. I the Crystal Light Lemonade mix but any brand will work.  Pour over ice and enjoy! If that doesn’t sound delicious to you, here are a few other recipes:

Enjoy mojitos but don’t want the alcohol? Try the Nohito!

Got some fruit in? Try the Summerberry Cooler.

I’ve read a lot of recipes using iced green tea as the base but I wasn’t thrilled with the results. Maybe if I added some honey or lemon? If you want to try it, click here. I’ll just stick with my Arnolds for now!
