Best Morning Routines: 5 Tips to Get Your Day Started Off Right

by The Cooperative

1. Get up a little earlier

Have you ever set your alarm for a particular time, but when the alarm goes off, you continue to hit snooze? I think we’ve all done this and then have to rush out the door to stay on time. You will have time to slowly get your day started by waking up at your alarm time. My favorite thing about getting up earlier has a little time to go outside with my cup of coffee. The fresh air wakes me up and feels so refreshing. Think of something you could do with the extra time in the morning and give it a try!

2. Make your bed

If you’re a person that could benefit from a small win to start the day, this habit is for you! Making your bed before you leave for the day gives you something to check off your to-do list and feel accomplished first thing in the morning, and this feeling can change your outlook on the day ahead.

3. Affirmations

Positive statements can be used to reframe how you think about yourself and get your mind in a more positive attitude. By visualizing the good things, you have, you can overcome any self-doubt and take on the day believing in yourself. A simple affirmation could be “I will do great things today” or “I am achieving a big goal today.”

4. Get moving

There are endless benefits to exercising in the morning, and it helps prepare you physically and mentally for the day ahead. Morning movement could look different for everyone. Some ideas could be a brisk walk around the neighborhood, doing an exercise video at home, going to the gym, or going to a yoga class.

5. Eat a well-balanced breakfast

The food we eat in the morning is crucial to our daily performance, and our energy levels can be affected by the food we eat. Try staying away from high-sugar, high-fat breakfast items. Make a healthy swap and try low-fat yogurt with berries, oatmeal with a banana, or eggs with a whole grain piece of toast.

If you want to adjust your morning routine, choose one thing to switch, and don’t go for all these suggestions at once. Slowly work on your routine until you get to a point you truly feel refreshed and ready for your day!
